Remember Matias Bize, a director from Chile who talked about his experencies at the Berlinale Residency for filmmakers in our latest edition of World of Shorts?  Now you have the chance to apply for a 3 month stay in Berlin to get your new film made, just like he did.

The “Berlin 24/7” programme Berlinale Residency supports auteur filmmakers who have already shown their first works successfully at renowned international festivals in developing their new film projects. In close contact with individually selected script consultants from the Nipkow Programm, the filmmakers work on finalizing their screenplays. In a workshop towards the end of the Residency, their producers are given feedback from experienced industry professionals and support in preparing the projects for the international market.

The Berlinale Residency will invite four projects (full-length fictional and documentary films, as well as cross-media projects) to Berlin, where the filmmakers will be given the opportunity to maximize the potential of their projects without diminishing the central creative qualities of the stories they want to tell.

The filmmakers will be able to work on location in Berlin from August 15 until November 15, 2013. In order to find co-producers and financiers, they will return to Berlin to present their projects with their producers at the Berlinale Co-Production Market in February 2014 or at the Ibero-American Co-Production Meeting in Guadalajara in March 2014.

Applications for the Berlinale Residency (Aug 15 – Nov 15, 2013) may be submitted online until March 10, 2013

The Berlinale Residency is an initiative of the Berlin International Film Festival, the Nipkow Programm and the Guadalajara International Film Festival, in cooperation with the MEDIA Mundus programme of the European Union and the Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg. The Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg supports the Berlinale Residency within the scope of the “Berlin 24/7” programme that offers fellowships in the German capital to international filmmakers.
