Did you know that before this awesome magazine of ours, there was this awesome blog you’re reading right now? The World of Shorts is being released on the event of the Cannes Film Festival. This is the second year we’re releasing a mag for Cannes and the 6th issue in print of them all. Read about what new features we have and all the rest. Expect one Pitch Page interview and a Cannes-related article from the WOSH every day during the festival.
The second edition of Daazo innovating initiative, the Pitch Page Project takes place for the second time this year. The Pitch Page offers appearance in the magazine for short film projects currently in pre-production. The seven best projects have been chosen by a Jury presided by Maike Mia Höhne, curator of Berlinale Shorts. These seven pitches will be featured in the magazine, on Daazo’s Pitching Wall at the Short Film Corner, and a gallery of the shortlist of 15 will be available to view on Daazo.com. All projects will be displayed on Daazo’s Facebook page.
The motto of the magazine, realised in cooperation with contemporary artists, is: The Whole is More than the Sum of its Parts. The popular Mapping Your Mind project has been featured in the magazine again – in this section, Cinéfondation filmmakers tell readers about their films through interesting, times terrifying, times mesmerizing drawings.
Palme d’Or winner Maryna Vroda tells readers about her festival experience, the selector of Directors’ Fortnight, Laurence Reymond offers insight into the selection process, and an infographic helps readers find their way in the maze of the Cannes short film scene. Domenico La Porta, the editor-in-chief of Cineuropa writes about cross-media, while Mátyás Mao Kálmán gives an overview of interactive film platforms.
In addition, we offered an opportunity to producers and filmmakers to expose their short films participating in the Short Film Corner in order to get them more publicity at the festival. Check out the SFC Higlights page in the magazine.
The print issues of World of Shorts can be found at the Short Film Corner and at the short film screenings in Cannes so be sure to pick one up when you swing around and take a look at Daazo’s pitching wall.
If you read through the magazine, you will find the date of Daazo’s workshop at the Short Film Corner.
