The 12th edition of Curcocircuito – International Short Film Festival will be held from the 6th until the 11th of October, at Santiago de Compostela, Spain. The officially competing short films at the festival are divided into two selections: Radar and Explora.

Radar: International selection of titles that set trends both in fiction and non-fiction films. Experienced filmmakers coexist with new directors; award winning works in festivals all over the world share a space with new proposals that Curtocircuíto wishes to promote.

ExploraSection that focuses on new filmmaking signatures. Pieces that can hardly be catalogued in specific genres, and that dilute the traditional idea of cinema by exploring innovative paths, closer to documentaries, video-experimentation or avant-garde films.

Just like in the previous years, several parallel programmes planned for this week-long event. The festival is introducing one Retrospective programme on Danish experimental documentary filmmaker Jørgen Leth, and a special short film selection from the works of the acclaimed Finnish director Aki Kaurismäki. Both of the directors will be attending at the festival personally. Read all about the detailed programme of Kaurismäki’s and Leth’s work on the official website!
