Festival deadlines in February 2010

It is never too late to apply to these festivals. All have a deadline this month. Here we have our suggestions for February.

Krakow Film Festival
Krakow, Poland
Entries must be received by 11th Feb 2010

Krakow FF promotes the documentary, animated and short films. More than 350 films are presented during KFF every year. In 2007 a new competition section was held – for feature-length documentary films.

International ShortFilmFestival Hamburg
Hamburg, Germany
Entries must be received by 15th Feb 2010

In 1985 the festival started under the title No Budget Festival as a small festival that mainly screened super 8 films. Over the years it grew bigger and bigger and is nowadays one of the most important shortfilm festivals in Europe that lures everyyear up to 14 000 spectators into the word of short films.

Funchal International Film Festival – Madeira island
Funchal, Portugal
Entries must be received by 19th Feb 2010

The Festival will explore new trends in art film; main category is the International Official Competitive Section for fiction features and shorts produced between 2008 and 2009.

Titanic Film Festival
Budapest, Hungary
Entries must be received by 20th Feb 2010

The aim of the Festival is to present a wide variety of daringly new, original and trend-breaking motion pictures from every possible corner of the world, be it dark comedies, emotionally charged dramas, genre films, or documentaries.

Munich International Short Film Festival
Munich, Germany
Entries must be received by 28th Feb 2010

MUNICH INTERNATIONAL showcases a variety of talent from all over the world by presenting new ideas, new stories, new visions, new techniques, new styles and new trends in filmmaking. These short films offer the rare opportunity to view a medium that encourages innovation and originality in filmmaking, thus giving something very special and enriching to the viewer.

Maremetraggio
Trieste, Italy
Entries must be received by 28th Feb 2010

The Festival main section, Maremetraggio, is a “Best of the Best” of European shorts, where only the winners of other Festival in the previous year can be selected. It has also the CEI prize for shorts from eastern European countries and a debut work section only for Italian movies.

Participate in the third edition of FILMINI

The third edition of FILMINI International Short Film Festival will take place in October 13-18, 2009 in Sofia, Bulgaria.

Filmini is committed to showcasing international short films. The Festival’s primary goal is to present young cinema of the world and independent films, and to become a platform for short filmmakers.

A special focus of the festival is films coming from the Balkans.

The term for film submissions for the festival programs is now OPEN!

AWARDS HIGHLIGHTS:
-       The grand prix prize € 1,200
-       Best animation film award € 500
-       Best Balkan film award € 1,000
-       Kodak award for Best film from the national competition
-       Audience award

Etiuda & Anima Festival’s call for Animation

logo_poziom1Etiuda & Anima Festival will have a competition of animation,equally professional, independent as well as the student’s one.

For this year’s edition of the competition there will be chosen the films made in 2007- 2009 and they shall not exceed 30 minutes of duration.

The films will compete for the following Prizes -Grand Prix — Golden Jabberwocky, Silver Jabberwocky, Bronze Jabberwocky; the students’ films will also compete for a Special Golden Jabberwocky for the Best Animated Student Etude of the Festival.

As the organizers we also hope to have a support of sponsors what might also give an opportunity to hand in the financial award (last year we have 2,000 Euro)

Filled in forms and the DVD will be collected until of 30th
July 2008.

We would be glad if your newest film was sent to the preselection. We will finally inform you about a decision of accepting the film to the competition in the second half of September 2008.

Is Our Society Open? – Call for Films

 Our friends the organisers of the cool BuSho Festival have a new project again – mainly for filmmakers of Slovakia, Czech Republic and Hungary. Let’s read their announcement below!

azyl.pngThe fimmakers from Slovakia, Czech Republic and Hungary have a chance to show their creative abilities and promote themselves in the eyes of home and foreign spectators.

Film may be shot on whatever hot, touchy social topic that u would like to express to. AZYL and the daily newspaper SME, together with Open Society Found, Rádio_FM and daily newspaper Ujszó, as well as Busho Film Festival Budapest, Népszabadság, Duna TV and CiliChili.cz will give u the space for your standpoint mediated with your film.

The best films will be awarded by the jury of filmmakers and media representatives from three MiddleEuropean countries, the prizes mean money awards.

We’ll make our best to bring your film to the broadest audience!
After the ceremonial screening of the nominated films on 5th March 2009 the contributions will be streamed on 3 important web portals in Slovakia, Hungary and Czech Republic and there will be a special space for discussion on the themes brought by your pieces.
